Scientists have confirmed what we all secretly knew. Watching internet cat videos is a good thing. Cat videos can boost a viewer’s energy and positive emotions and also decrease negative feelings. The study, reported in the latest issue of Computers In Human Behavior, surveyed 7,000 people, their cat video viewing habits, and the affects on mood. According to my friends at FreedomPop, internet data reveals that there were more than 2 million cat videos posted on YouTube in 2014 and 26 million views.
The study found that 36% of the viewers identified themselves as cat lovers while 60% liked both dogs and cats. Study participants reported that they felt more energetic after watching a cat video and they experienced less anxiety, annoyance and sadness. Overall, positive affects were reported. Researchers plan to do future studies to see if watching cat videos can function as a type of low-cost pet therapy. Click here to see the full story, and enjoy your cat videos guilt free.
